Brief overview of the project
In February 2014 Members of CRSC resolved to extend club boat storage facilities to enable those who live in high density housing but cannot store their own boat to enjoy sailing. By extending boat storage facilities members could store their boats at the club at a cost significantly less than they would experience utilising commercial storage.
Work commenced immediately to submit plans for approval of the extension that was provided in late 2015. $40,000 of support for the project was provided by the NSW State Government under a Building Community Partnership Grant, donations from local business, members, fund raising activities and donations from the public.
In December 2015 a contractor drove the piles to provide the base for the extension. Timber for the deck was delivered just prior to Anzac Day 2016. Members laid the deck within 3 weeks. Construction of the building itself was completed in June/July 2016.
The project was managed by Bryce Ellis and Reg Wilkens, life members of CRSC. All work was completed by volunteer labour from club members.
