Junior courses are designed to progress the younger sailor (8 to 15 years old) from beginner to a reasonably competent sailor. Learning to sail has proved to be an important step in helping young children to build their self- confidence.

What do you need to wear and bring along to the course?

The club supplies training dinghies and Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs). Trainees need to protect themselves with sunscreen and wear hats, tops, shorts plus old sandshoes/sneakers or aquatic footwear. They need to bring a towel and change of clothes. For safety reasons, footwear is compulsory around the club, rigging area and whilst sailing.

Course Details

There are three separate courses for Junior sailors with our courses running for 8 weeks each and are as follows:

• Start Sailing 1 - no sailing experience required.
• Start Sailing 2 - pre-requisite is to have completed the competencies of Start Sailing 1
• Better Sailing - pre-requisite is to have completed the competencies of Start Sailing 2

Dates

The courses run from

• 17th October to 5th December 2026 and
• 30th January to 20th March 2027

Both junior and adult courses are held over the same 8 consecutive weeks. Each course is conducted on Saturday mornings from 9am to 12pm.

Other details

Dinghies used for the Junior course are our Opti and Firebug dinghies.

Course training added benefit - At no additional cost, graduates from all courses may continue to use club dinghies in the same season in our Intermediate lunchtime races to improve their on-water skills (subject to dinghy availability).

Parent Participation

Parents and guardians not participating in the training courses are encouraged to stay at the club. Your assistance in taking dinghies to and from the clubhouse to the launching place would be appreciated.

Fees

The fees for the course are $345 for Children.

• CRSC current Members - a 10% discount is available to current members and those listed on their membership. Just enter the discount code “member10” at the discount prompt when enrolling.

• returning Trainees - a 10% discount is available to trainees returning for another course.

• Non-Members – a 10% discount is available where 2 or more of the same family members are enrolled. Just enter the discount code "SAVE10" when registering

• Children Courses – you can use your “Active Kids Voucher”

How do you use an "Active Kids Voucher"?

Active and Creative Kids Vouchers, (ACKVs) usage has been amended by the NSW State Government for 2026-2027. One $50 per child relates to the period July to December in the current year and the other $50 relates to the period January to June of the following year.

As our club sailing fees relate to the sailing season September in the current year to April in the following year and storage fees extend to September in the following year both $50 ACKVs fees can be used at the one time.  

If you wish to use these vouchers for CRSC fees provide a copy of the voucher fee details to the Registrar and after approval by Service NSW an invoice will be provided to you, incorporating the voucher(s) discount.
