Discover Sailing Day is an ideal opportunity to try small boat dinghy sailing and to visit our sailing club at no cost.
You’ll have the option to go out for a short sail with an experienced sailor, have a look around the club’s facilities and find out about the programs and courses available. There is something for the whole family and even kids as young as six years old can sail when accompanied on-water by a parent or guardian.
We supply life jackets (Personal flotation devices or PFDs). Just wear comfortable clothing, soft soled shoes that can be worn in the water, wear sunscreen and a hat. You will get wet, so please bring a change of clothes. Club members provide the use of their craft and experienced skippers will take you for a sail. It’s recommended you allow at least 1.5 -2 hours if you want to get out on the water. Several different types of dinghies will be taking part including: Spirals, Tasars, NS14s, Herons, Catamarans, Firebugs, Optis and Moths.
Don’t want to go out in a boat? That’s fine, as you can sit and watch the members of your family from the comfort of our covered deck over the water enjoying a cuppa or look around the club. You can even try your hand at a few knots.
BONUS There will be a sausage sandwich provided free to every person attending.
